Noel Wynne at Laurel fairgrounds

Noel’s first car was a full bodied car #12 Gauge. It was heavy and slow. They built the New 12 Gauge from a Ford Coupe but it only had stock motor. It was also slow. Pat Patrick helped Noel and his brother-in-law, James Ball build a hot motor for the car. This car now had the power to run up front. Noel was noticed by John Bethea and in the spring of 1955 he purchased the number 99 car from Ben Adams of Wesson Ms. They added a 9 to the side of the car and the 999 was born.
