While Johnny Baker was known mostly in the early 1960’s for his Jalopies, there was a short period of time I think that he had this modified. I remember the car being purple with his familiar 49 on the side. I overheard a conversation with him during a Saturday night race, that he had to put in a new rear end in his jalopy and the 25 dollar paycheck that he received for that night’s racing would not nearly cover that. The car did not make many appearances before it disappeared.
