As told by JACK BROWN Mississippi Racing Historian: Herman Wise raced many a mile over at Mobile and Pensacola door handle to door handle with Ival Cooper and Ellis Pallasini. Herman Wise came up to the old Jackson Sports Arena track one Labor Day race in the early 60's. He took off his asphalt shocks, put on some dirt ones and proceeded to whip all of the local drivers. He just plain embarrassed Chicken McComb and Ival Cooper. They were mad about that race all Winter long and driven to not alow that to happen again. They took Racing in Mississippi to another level that next year.
