As told by Mississippi Racing Historian Jack Brown: Notice the silver dome in the middle of the cowl. I'd forgotten that unique piece of engineering. That was an old 30's model Chevy headlight bucket. It contained the tach, oil pressure gauge, and water temp gauge. I'd never seen one put like that before, but it was set up for the gauges to be in easy view of the driver. Those mechanics at Blackwell's dealership were a sharp bunch of dudes for their day.
